Thank you to everyone who attended and to all those who couldn't be there but submitted their views in advance.
We received a total of 24 votes either via email or from those in attendance. Membership voted unanimously to begin a year-long process of merging with Shepperton Players. Shepperton Players also received a majority for the proposal to merge. The two committees, led by the steering committee, will now begin working out the practicalities of the merging process. These are, to a great extent, administrative at this stage, and there will be no change to any of the projects we are currently working on.
Please do remember to pay your £10 annual membership fee to the society you are part of (the new membership year started in September). This still entitles you to take part in the shows of both groups until the merger takes place.
We decided not to award the Houlding Cup at this time due to the fact that it can officially only be awarded to a Manor Players member. In joint shows this becomes a challenge. Therefore, it was voted yesterday that we would open the award up to Shepperton Players members appearing in joint productions also. As Shepperton Players already have awards for the best actor and actress, it was voted that the committee will look at a way of repurposing our Houlding Cup to award to someone for a different contribution and it will be given out later this year in its repurposed form.
